The new slogan adopted by the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau says, “Live Large. Think Big.” It’s a good description of the city that is big, bold, brash and beautiful. Dallas is the ninth large city in the United States and the number one destination for visitors to Texas. Business is big in Dallas. Almost 6,000 corporations call Dallas home, including Fortune 500 companies like Kimberly Clark, Texas Instruments, Centex, Southwest Airlines and Brinker. It is also the site of the largest retail wholesale market in the world and the Neiman Marcus flagship store is a shopping Mecca. Dallas is within four hours by air of every major city in the U.S. Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is located midway between Dallas and Fort Worth. The award-winning airport serves 60 million passengers a year and provides service from 135 domestic and 36 international destinations. Dallas transportation is available by taxis, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) public transportation shuttles, limousines, rental cars and some hotel courtesy cars. Getting around downtown is easy with the DART rail and bus service and the historic M-Line Streetcar and modern M-Line Trolley also offer free service within the center of the city.
